Barbara will sing the role of Harriet Beecher Stowe in the New York City premiere of composer Kamala Sankaram and librettist Rob Handel’s The Infinite Energy of Ada Lovelace with New Camerata Opera. This one-act chamber opera tells the story of Ada, Countess of Lovelace, a brilliant mathematician and the daughter of Lord Byron, who has been asked to help Charles Babbage with his work on the Difference Engine. The revolutionary concepts that she put forth in her notes about the potential ability of the Engine to carry out an algorithm led Ada to be considered the world’s first computer programmer.

Fresh Squeezed Opera presents the fourth installment of The Female Gaze, an ongoing project curated by FSO Director, Jillian Flexner. The program will showcase the world premieres of three distinct compositions, each written for female voice, chamber ensemble, and electronics. Barbara will perform Gabrielle Herbst’s piece, “First Lady of the Air.”

As part of the Composers Now Festival, Barbara Porto will join forces with pianist Ariel Jacobs to bring life to newly composed songs that focus on the theme of challenging authority. The duo will perform works by Libby Larsen, Greg Houston, Abraham Z. Morrison, Mavis Pan, and Ivonne Paredes.  $10 admission at the door.

Ms. Porto is thrilled to make her debut with The Curiosity Cabinet, a new music collective,  in a concert of new works inspired by Arnold Schoenberg's groundbreaking Pierrot Lunaire. Barbara will premiere Rebekah Driscoll's Apart/ment, a song cycle for 4 voices, alto flute, bass clarinet, cello, and piano.

Barbara will debut the role of Oberto in Händel's Alcina with Cantanti Project.  Sung in the original Italian with English supertitles, the opera will be staged, and accompanied by Dorian Baroque orchestra.  Click here to purchase tickets.

Barbara will perform "Marks" from the song cycle of the same name by composer Alex Weiser at Fresh Squeezed Opera's 2015 Showcase of new works.  Tickets can be purchased here. Reception to follow.

An evening of Leonard Bernstein's incomparable operatic and theatre music, sung by a group of New York City's brightest talent. Barbara will perform in selections as Anita (West Side Story) and Ivy (On the Town). $20 suggested donation

Barbara will perform Juan Pablo Siles-Mendoza's Arsuyaña, a piece for amplified voice and live electronics.  Other featured composers include Matt Gantt, Maciej Lewandowkski, Akio Makuno, Ivonne Paredes, and Hannah Selin.

Barbara will perform as Angelica in selections from Händel's Orlando.

Barbara returns to Apollo Opera to sing Denise in Jacques Offenbach's one-act operetta, Le Mariage aux Lanternes. A double-bill evening, the operetta will be showcased along with Telemann's Pimpinone. Both works will be performed in English with piano accompaniment.

Barbara will perform as Susanna in selections from W.A. Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro.
